Between 2013 and 2018, Alain Dumont photographed dozens of botanical species in the countryside and forests around Luzarches — each as remarkable as the next, whether for their aromatic, medicinal or culinary properties, their simple beauty, or their ecological role.

By capturing their botanical characteristics and focusing solely on species found locally, his photographs — which we are fortunate to inherit today — will help identify the species one might encounter while walking in the area, and may even inspire others to discover and document with a camera the varieties growing unnoticed close to home...

Awareness, Knowledge and Preservation are words that go naturally together. While some species have become very rare in the Île-de-France region, others have spread widely and can be found across many other parts of the country.
