Perennial succulent of the Crassulaceae family, native to Central Asia, notably reported in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and adjacent mountainous regions. It occupies rock gardens and sunny rocky walls, on dry and well-drained mineral substrates, often at high altitudes.
It forms compact rosettes with fleshy, broad, and relatively flattened leaves for the genus — this is suggested by the epithet platyphylla, "with broad leaves" — of a glaucous green to medium green, smooth or slightly pruinose, arranged in tight rosettes that multiply to form small dense clumps, not exceeding 5 to 8 cm in height outside of flowering.
The flowering stems, erect and branched, bear clusters of small star-shaped flowers, cream white to greenish white, discreet and delicate. In its natural habitat, its flowering probably extends from June to July depending on the altitude.
As with the entire genus, the flowering rosettes die after fruiting, renewal being ensured by the lateral rosettes. It requires a very well-drained, mineral soil, in full sun, with protection against excess winter moisture.
