Hybrid perennial of the Primula x juliana group, resulting from the cross between Primula vulgaris from Western Europe and Primula juliae from the Eastern Caucasus. 'Sneeuwwitje' is a cultivar of Dutch origin — its name means Snow White in Dutch — the Netherlands, alongside the United Kingdom and Central Europe, being one of the active centers for the selection and dissemination of julianae during the 20th century.
The plant forms a spreading clump reaching 10 to 12 cm in height, with bright green foliage strongly blistered and with wavy-crenate edges, borne on distinctly visible reddish-brown tinted petioles. This contrast between reddish petioles and bright green leaves is a characteristic detail upon close observation.
The flowers are pure white, large and well-opened, with slightly notched petals, centered on a bright yellow eye that radiates star-like on the white background. Carried individually on upright peduncles, they unfold in numbers above the foliage.
In cultivation, flowering extends from February to April. Cool, humus-rich and well-drained soil, semi-shade or filtered light; regular division of clumps every two to three years.
