Unnamed collection seedling, family of Primulaceae. Horticultural hybrid resulting from the cross between Primula auricula and Primula hirsuta, this seedling is distinguished by the intensity and depth of its color, in a sustained purple-violet range rarely so saturated.
The petals are wide, strongly wavy and crisped at their edges, of a deep and velvety purple-violet, without any parasitic pinkish hue. Their dense and matte texture enhances the impression of chromatic richness. The eye is floury white, clear and generous, forming a well-defined disc at the center of the corolla. The tube, visible at the heart of the eye, is yellow to yellow-orange depending on the flowers of the umbel, creating a warm luminous point in the middle of this dark background.
The superposition of the two flowers on the stem, as it appears here, allows observing the slight variation between individuals of the same umbel, one showing more of the orange tube, the other the tighter greenish tube. This pure purple with a white eye belongs to the most classic and appreciated ranges of alpine auricula collectors.
In its natural habitat, the flowering of the parent species extends from April to June depending on the altitude. In cultivation, it occurs in April-May. Excellent drainage, humus-rich substrate, partial shade exposure, and protection against stagnant winter humidity are essential.
