Double-flowered cultivar resulting from the selection of acaulescent primroses, 'Miss Indigo' is one of the most striking dark purple doubles available in cultivation, and one of the few to have achieved regular distribution among specialists.
The rosette is ample, composed of large oval to elliptical leaves, bright green, strongly crinkled and distinctly veined, whose rough texture is characteristic of the group. The plant reaches 12 to 18 cm in height at full bloom. The double flowers are very dense, tightly packed into compact balls, borne on short peduncles from the rosette. Their color is a deep violet to almost black purple at the center, each scalloped petal bordered by a sharp, regular white edge that stands out with great clarity against the dark background. This bicolored effect is one of the most distinctive features of the cultivar, immediately recognizable.
In cultivation, blooming occurs from March to April. Propagation by division after flowering remains the most reliable method to faithfully preserve the cultivar's characteristics. It requires a cool, humus-rich, well-drained soil, in semi-shade, without prolonged summer drought.
