Perennial of the Caryophyllaceae family, endemic to Greece, where it is confined to the limestone massifs of Parnassus and some neighboring reliefs. It grows in rock crevices and rocky alpine grasslands, in full light, on very well-drained limestone substrates.
It forms a firm and well-rounded hemispherical cushion, 4 to 7 cm in height, with a remarkably dense surface. The leaves are linear-lanceolate, slightly widened at the base, with a sharp tip, a bright and luminous green, arranged in tight starlets that overlap into a compact mass. This particularly abundant foliage, of a strong and vivid green, gives the cushion an almost artificial appearance due to its striking regularity.
The flowers are white, small, with five petals. In its natural habitat, flowering extends from May to July depending on the altitude.
It requires perfect drainage, a lean limestone substrate, and full sun.
