Dianthus alpinus 'Albus'

Selected cultivar of Dianthus alpinus, 'Albus' shares all the characteristics of habit and foliage of the type species: dense, low cushion of 5 to 10 cm, fleshy oval-lanceolate leaves, bright and glossy green, and flower buds tinged with dark purple before opening.

The flowers are pure white, slightly pinkish at the center, with a discreet eye and very faint, barely perceptible streaks. The petals are toothed at the edge. Carried in generous numbers above the foliage, they literally cover the cushion at full bloom, from May to July in cultivation. Its flowering occurs from May to July in cultivation.

Same cultural requirements as the species: limestone soil, perfect drainage, full sun, and protection against stagnant winter moisture. A remarkable choice for those wishing to introduce a note of whiteness into an alpine rock garden without sacrificing the plant's vigor or character.
