Campanula 'Lissens Variety'

Cultivar of the Campanulaceae family, whose exact parent species remains difficult to determine with certainty from the available references. Based on the habit and floral morphology visible in the photograph, it appears to be a hybrid or a selection close to Campanula portenschlagiana or the group of sprawling bellflowers with spreading flowers, probably of Belgian or Dutch horticultural origin, as suggested by the name.

The plant forms spreading and generously branched clumps, with bright green, rounded to heart-shaped foliage, slightly crenate, with distinctly pubescent stems and calyces, giving a visibly downy appearance upon close examination. This pronounced hairy characteristic, visible even on the flower buds, is one of the most distinctive traits of this cultivar.

The flowers, widely open and star-shaped, with well-separated and elongated lobes, are of a very delicate pale lilac-pink, slightly lighter towards the center. They are produced in great abundance on flexible and drooping stems, generously covering the foliage at the time of anthesis.

In cultivation, flowering generally occurs from June to August. It appreciates well-drained soil, sunny to semi-shaded exposure, and is suitable for rock gardens, walls, and borders. Hardy in most temperate regions.
