A cultivar from the Brassicaceae family, Aubrieta 'Antique Rose' is a horticultural form selected from wild species of the genus Aubrieta, native to the mountainous regions of the eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. Like all cultivated aubrietas, it is a semi-evergreen perennial, forming dense and spreading cushions 8 to 15 cm in height.

Its foliage is grayish-green, covered with a light indumentum, composed of small, slightly toothed spatulate leaves. This dense and regular carpet provides a neutral background that admirably highlights the flowering.

The uniqueness of this cultivar lies in the color of its flowers: a salmon-pink to old rose, soft and slightly coppery, which distinguishes it from classic aubrietas with clear violet or purple hues. The four-petaled flowers are borne in short, abundant clusters that completely cover the foliage at anthesis, creating a colorful cascade effect on walls and rock gardens.

In its natural habitat, the parent species bloom from April to June. In cultivation, flowering occurs from March to May, with sometimes a slight resurgence in autumn if the plant is pruned after the first flowering.

It thrives in full sun, in well-drained soil, preferably calcareous, and tolerates summer drought well once established.
