Androsace vandellii

Androsace vandellii, alpine androsace in dense silvery cushion with small white flowers
Androsace vandellii

Vandelli's Androsace. Native to the western and central Alps, the Pyrenees, and some Iberian massifs, between approximately 2,000 and 3,500 meters.

Forms dense and rounded cushions of tiny rosettes covered with a very tight white-silvery tomentum, characteristic. The flowers are pure white, solitary, carried on very short stems barely emerging from the cushion. Calcifuge species, seeking the crevices of siliceous rocks. Blooms from June to August.

Delicate in cultivation, it requires a very well-drained and acidic substrate, and protection against excess moisture.
